Niece's Birthday

My brothers girls both have birthdays in April and are turning 4 and 6 yrs old.

Aren't they cute!

 They both play soccer and love listening to music and dancing. I bought them each a kids song CD and then at Dollar Tree found these cute soccer baskets.

 Bought a few toys to throw in as well as piggy banks which I personalized using my Cricut and stickers.

Everything goes in with some tissue paper

Then I added handmade gift tags

Trash to storage

Another blogger gave me an idea for dog food storage and well I just couldn't find a container like what she had used. Also I needed something that was narrow since I have limited space. And this is what I came up with a total cost of $15 since all I had to buy was the trash can, already had the vinyl.

So it went from this

to this...

Big enough for a 25lb bag of dog food

 Looks alot better then a bag propped against the wall! 

Patiently waiting....

Upon recent trips to the antique shops in Glen Rose I now have two layaways. Which I love layaway but over time I get so impatient waiting to get it paid off! I picture how the item is going to look, will it fit and if I should paint it once its home. I need some advice! I took two pictures of the drop leaf table I have in layaway and I'm wondering to paint or not to paint.

 Here it is sitting in the booth at the antique mall

Comes with four chairs and two leafs its precious!

Problem is I don't think the color it is now will mesh well in my kitchen.

Thinking about getting it home and letting it sit for a little while then making a decision. 

Asian Pork Chops with Glazed Veggies

This was a yummy dish! You throw everything in the crock pot and end up with some delicious food!

Ingredients :

5 thick boneless pork chops
3/4 C brown sugar
2 t ground ginger
1/4 C soy sauce
1/2 C ketchup
2 cloves garlic
3/4 C water

All of the above goes into crock pot then cover with a piece of foil. 

For the Veggies your going to lay a large piece of foil on the counter and empty your frozen bag of veggies
(I used stir-fry mixed vegetables)
To this add:

3 T butter or olive oil
2 1/2 T honey
1 pinch ground ginger
1 T lemon juice
Fold the foil to make a sealed packet and place on top of pork chops in the crock pot.
The veggies will steam inside the packet. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.

Kitchen Hutch Before and After

I am so excited! I finally finished my very first furniture redo! Here is the before...

A Green laminate piece that was just painted over and so it was peeling. it was bad.

I stripped the paint and sanded every inch..

Here the hubby helped and did the staining

After prime and paint here she is!

The accent color for my kitchen is red so I displayed a few of my grandmothers red candy dishes and pieces I've acquired from my mother and the Antique Mall.

I'm so excited to find another piece of furniture to makeover! But first I'm going to sew kitchen curtains from the table cloth I got at the Antique Mall, they will be so darling next to my new kitchen hutch :)
