Now showing! Movie Themed Birthday Party

Whew! I have been a busy little bee this past week. I was asked by my father-in-law to do a surprise birthday party for my mother-in-law. She turned 67 this year and let me tell you it is VERY HARD to keep a secret from her! I love her to pieces! And I hope I did her justice by this party, she deserves it!
First thing was secretively handing out invites to all the church members then calling all her children. I used the cricut and cut out small envelopes and glued a print out of when and where etc. I decided to do a movie/theater theme since there were men attending I didn't think a pink lady party would do! We decided to use the church to hold the party, the pastor was very nice in letting us do this. And allowing me to transform things atleast for a few hours!
Here was her welcome sign..

I did a concession stand with  nachos, hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, chips, fruit and assorted candies..

Here is the cake table. I used the cricut to cut out the shapes and letters for the happy birthday sign.. dressed up the cake and cupcakes with some themed tooth picks. Basically spiffed the table up with some decorations and gave it some height using a glass plate and my glass cake stand to hold the cupcakes..

I snuck some old photos from her albums and scanned them with my printer. Then transfer to a SD card took it up to Wal-mart and had them blown up to 8x10.. Glammed up the pictures and placed them around the party room to showcase her as the "Star" (this was her in high school)
She was very surprised!

Such a good sport she sang along with us "Happy Birthday to MEEEE!"

Now for the photo booth which was alot of fun for everyone and a huge hit! I bought the back drop from the party store, simple and easy. Got the dress up items from the party store, dollar tree and dollar general.
Her great niece, niece and sister

Two grandsons.. one on right is my son :)

Two church members and close friends. She is pretending to be the rock groupie!

One of her sons and his family

My gang

Look at her smile!

She absolutely loved it! She cried, then laughed and cried some more!  Happy Birthday Jody!

Dressin' up a picture frame

In my last post I had showed an idea from Pink Ink Doodle using multiple picture frames and vinyl. Well here is my version since I have other ideas for the rest of the frames I have.

Closer view, the flash gave it a blue hue the above pic is more true to the wall color

It came out nice and now I'm off to work on the lamps for the master bedroom! Have a great day!

Oh so cute!

I've started messing around with Pinterest and this was on the front page today!
From a blog no doubt! I think this is so cute and if I still had little ones .....  Its over at domestic candy and yes its in German but my Google Chrome browser lets me translate it to English. I love the ideas she shares involving kiddos! Go check her out!

Next is a great idea for all these old wooden picture frames that I have! Pink Ink Doodle shared this crafty idea that I'm going to modify just a tad tomorrow. Love it!

I've also started collecting vintage kitchen items such as these below (not my picture) Will post mine once I have them hanging up :)

Forever I have been buggin the hubby with wanting a popup camper... well now I have my sights set on something sorta like this......
I caught a post over at The Vintage Housewife about older model travel trailers, hers is adorable. This one caught my eye its a '57 Jewel. I'd love to get my hands on something I can paint and remodel any way I want! Came across a posting at Vintage Cottage Camper her camper is so cute and her blog shows off many other cute campers.
My goal is to have a camper by next summer, hopefully ready to go camping in but we will see!

Its July 4th and the house is quiet since I got up at 6am for no reason at all. I have a trip to the grocery store and a house to clean before company comes over later for BBQ and fireworks. Busy day indeed! Hope everyone has a fun and safe fourth of July!
